never

this page exists because every product that ever turned into the thing it promised not to be did it quietly, one defensible sprint ticket at a time — so the list is published, it is dated, and breaking a line on it has to be an edit somebody signs.

published 14 october 2026. unchanged since.

if a line here is ever dropped, the dropped line stays on this page with the date it went, underneath. a promise you can diff is worth more than a promise you cannot.

1. no feed. no scrollable surface holding words by more than one person, in any order, under any name — no community, no inspiration tab, no discover. there is no table in the database that can hold a follower graph, and adding one would take a migration somebody has to defend.

2. no counted social edges. no followers, no following, no likes, no hearts, no reactions, no reaction counts, no view counts, no member counts. nothing here returns the size of a group of people.

3. no infinite scroll, anywhere — including your own record. it paginates by year, with a control you press, and it stops.

4. no notification caused by anybody else. nothing you receive will ever have been triggered by another person's action. and nothing will ever be triggered by your silence: no "you missed yesterday", no "we miss you", no win-back, no re-engagement drip. the service that sends messages has no field for who caused one.

5. one message a day, maximum, forever. not a current setting. the limit is in the schema, as a unique index on the day, so a second message cannot be sent on a day that already had one even if somebody later wants it to be.

6. no streak that can reset. the only counter counts days that had something in them, and it only goes up. there is no field anywhere that can decrement. streaks are the most effective retention lever in this industry and we are giving it up on purpose, because a product about finite time has no business punishing you for a tuesday.

7. no advertising. ever. not a banner, not a sponsorship, not a placement, not a newsletter slot. ads need a feed and time on site, which are the two things being refused above and below. and a contextual ad network pointed at the word "death" serves funeral homes, burial insurance and longevity supplements — the precise adjacency that must never exist here.

8. nothing you write is sold, rented, shared or handed on. not to a partner, not to an advertiser, not to a model, not as "anonymised insights", not as an asset in a deal. your words are yours, the export is free and complete and never paywalled, and deleting your account takes two taps with no retention offer and no email afterwards.

9. no funeral, burial, insurance or estate lead generation, at any price. this is where every business in this category eventually goes, because the leads are worth more than the product. we are naming the price in advance: there isn't one. this site is about tuesday, not about your estate.

10. no AI writes anything you read. not the suggestions, not the daily line, not a reply to you, not a summary of your own words back at you, and never a paraphrase of anybody's scripture. there is no chat box. if a sentence here was worth reading, a person wrote it, and one named person owns every word of it.

11. no countdown about a named living person on anything printed, shared or sent. you can be told, on your own screen, roughly how many more times you might see your mother. that figure never appears on a share card, a poster, an export, a notification or a message — and we never send a message to her, or to anyone, on your behalf. she did not agree to be actuarially assessed, and she is the only one who could.

12. time on site is a failure, not a goal. median session length is reported in red and it is bad news when it goes up. the target for the daily loop is under a minute. the metric we are proudest of is the share of days people finish without opening the site at all. if you are still here, we have done it wrong.

most of this is held up by nothing but the date at the top of the page. two of them are held up by the business: there is no advertising to sell without a feed, and nothing we charge for gets more valuable when you stay longer. that is deliberate. a rule the money enforces is the only kind that survives a bad quarter.

we are not the first to publish a list like this. the ones that failed removed the list before they failed. that is what the date is for.
